That is the way it was on N2, it would take about 2 min to load a fix and watch tv. Unfortunately that's not the case anymore, the only way to watch it now is by using dongle/ihub and connect to internet. I believe there will be stand alone fixes for fta receivers and you will be able to load a fix using USB stick but i don't know how long is it going to take until we see a standalone fix again.

I didn't realize this was so complex! My buddy at work told me all I had to do is buy the dish and receiver, get online and upload the proper codes on a USB drive, load 'em into the receiver and I'd be up and running. My signal strength and quality at both satellites is excellent. All I ever wanted to do is get my baseball channel back (that I lost in the digital switchover) so I can watch the Atlanta Braves play. Thanx for your help!
