I've also managed to get Intelsat Americas 5 so I guess I can say things are working like they're supposed to, but I imagine I need to update something to get some of the more "interesting" satellites

Tell us what programing/channels you would like or interested in receiving.We need more info.Not sure if you have the
IHUB.Without the ihub your choices are small.Not sure you have a satellite dish pointed and if so what is it pointed at.If you are doing this alone your in for a nightmare and so are we lol.But like you said take baby steps and will get you going.The first thing you need to deal with is pointing your dish.
