This isn't the end, have to have faith. Keep it in the closet if there is no fix you don't loose anything if a fix comes out you will be glad that the receiver didn't end up in the garbage. I my self would never trow a receiver in garbage, i have quiet a collection of receivers that don't work but i keep them all just in case.
