Viewsat checklist for troubleshooting

Searching signal:

1. Check all coax connections...don't assume, actually verify
2. Coax not installed on proper terminal, ensure it is on the LNB input...looking from the front, top right in the back of unit.
3. WEATHER...check to make sure it isn't raining strong or snowing
4. Verify antenna settings...in case your spouse wanted you to spend time with them instead of you watching the game (verify lnb, switch settings etc)
5. Check to make sure your switch is still there and all connections are still on it
6. Verify someone hasn't stolen your dish..actually happened
7. Dish may be out of alignment
8. If using LNB type universal, make sure the LNB High didn't switch from 11250 to another setting..must be 11250 (has happened, often)
9. ***If no signal on 119 while pointing or antenna settings, change TP from 12224 to another one i.e. 12239
10. LNB power set to off in antenna set up
11. Verify bin file...not likely, but always possible
12. Lastly, faulty LNB or switch

No Guide

1. Time setting must be set properly
2. You haven't waited long enough for it to tabulate...especially when switching from music->Tv and back, or powering up
3. Bin file (not likely, but possible the data transfer or bin file was corrupted, factory default, load factory file, factory default, load new Bin.
4. While setting up antenna setup, you scanned the wrong sat according to loaded sat info of receiver (i.e., sat file for 110, but 91 was scanned in instead
will work because it is still reading a signal)

No Audio or Visual

1. Auto roll turned off
2. Improper Bin file
3. Provider ID and key data not in receiver, can be manually added if required

Switch problems

1. Verify actual switch used is what's set up in the antenna setup
2. LNB power set to off in antenna set up
3. Improper port settings
4. If, after doing the above and you know it's all ok, one by one try each coax from each LNB going straight through to the receiver, if all ok, replace switch

Duplicate channels

1. Wrong LNB style, found it often happens using DSS Lnb's and setting lnb type to standard
2. Multiple scans
3. Switch faults or improper switch settings will at times scan the same sat more than once using multiscan
---there are a couple of ways to resolve, most are pretty self explanatory, but deleting all channels is one, doing a factory reset and re-setting all the antenna set up and re-scanning will resolve

Not Receiving all channels

1. Verify switch settings
2. Verify dish alignment and antenna settings
3. Switch didn't actually switch lnb's. verify sat receiving in top right of screen versus sat you want to receive above time
4. Verify Bin file is the latest, or working Bin
5. Verify key data, it has happened that bev added new provider ID's to certain channels requiring a separate key code for each provider (i.e. 09 05)
6. Verify that you're not in someone's favorite list, <fav> button, select "all channels"

Channels with additional prefixes

Receiving one providers channels under anther providers numbering and channel naming, wrong sat was scanned in regards to sat info.

Auto roll processing does stop

1. The keys have been morphed, another ECM by the providers, look for new keys on tvkeyz.com and double check against your STB, if the same try resetting unit, if not, turn off auto roll
and enter keys manually.
2. Switch failed to switch from one LNB to another, verify sat that's being received versus the one you want to receive
3. Channel is off air
4. Corrupted or failed data transfer while updating STB, verify latest Bin installed, re-install if required after fact. reset, load factory file, factory reset and latest Bin
5. STB froze, reset using back switch

Data fail, com port fail

1. Verify that you are using a null cable (a.k.a. crossover)
2. Verify com port setting in loader program

Acting weird, i.e. no sound, no pic etc

1. Try resetting STB, your box is a computer and can freeze up, reset it to see if it corrects problem
2. Corrupted Bin file, factory reset x2, load factory file, factory reset x2, load latest Bin, reset antenna set up and rescan

I try to avoid channel lists as they often cause problems, whether it be through data transfer or other reasons unless it's a channel list you previously uploaded from your box as a lot of ppl will upload someone else's channel list and due to dish alignment or geographical locations or any other reason you can't receive that channel, it'll display "searching signal" and can be misleading.

I have tried to cover as many things as possible, please feel free to add your own comments, correct any errors I may have made, solutions and problems I may have forgotten, omitted or haven't come across, I am one person with only my experiences and memories and can only read and retain do much from the forums....lol, so I will encourage you all to add, this may help someone sometime

And remember, if all else fails, do a factory reset x2, load a factory file, factory rest x2, and then load the latest Bin, reset all antenna settings, time etc...
