How to Fix a Dead CaptiveWorks

1 Don't try to put the correct bin on

2 Power off the receiver

3 Turn on the power from the rear at the same time hold the front power button the receiver will go to boot mode and thats what you do want

4 Load the factory bin

5 Load the CORRECT bin this time

6 Activate patch

7 Setup antenna and download channels

This is the first step to try before opening the box I'd say, also be sure to use a Desktop PC NOT a portable with USB To Serial adapter, it will simply won't work because of the speed of the bus, you have to use a native serial port or you'll waste a lot of time.

If the red light appear after loading a wrong bin, follow the next steps:

Steps:

1. Connect receiver to PC
2. Turn on receiver either with back switch or pluging it in, hold power sw till u see boot.
3. run 1.05 loader
4. select any bin.
5. Waite until receiver shows on the screen -End-
6. Turn off receiver & back on and enjoy.

If you are experiencing a Dead, Red Light Syndrome, Dim or no display on your Cw600S or Premium, here are some instrucctions on how to fix it.

NOTE: If the above syndrome(s) appear after loading a wrong bin file, the following procedure may not work..

1. Remove top lid by removing all 5 screws.
2. Measure the 3.3 volts (CN2 power supply or J2 on main board), If this voltage is 2.8 volts or lower, the power supply needs to be fixed.
3. Turn power OFF and Remove the power supply board from chassis.
4. Visually inspect the capacitors C16 and C17 (Cw600S Premium), C11 and C12 (Cw600S Regular). If these capacitors show signs of swelling and bulging on top or bottom, is time to replace them. Capacitor Values are 1000uF/10 volts Can also use 1000uF/16 or 25 volts.
5. Desolder the capacitors using a solder sucker. Do not apply pressure to pads or lands.
6. Install the new capacitors with the proper polarities to avoid further damage to power supply board.
7. Solder the installed capacitors, becareful not to apply pressure with soldering iron as this will damage the pads or lands.
8. Install power supply back on the chassis and power STB back ON.
