CaptiveWorks Receivers Not Dead Yet
what is rq-sssp-client?
by raton_craquero
rq-sssp-client is a multi-platform client that enables SSSP capable receivers (such as some CaptiveWorks models) to be used as a softcam or card sharing client (to rqcs or any other cs server supporting the Newcamd protocol). To work, it requires a standard null-modem cable connected from a SSSP capable receiver to a supported platform device.

rq-sssp-client runs on the following platforms:

- Windows PC, Linux PC (x86)
- Dreambox (all models, PPC & MIPS)
- Triple Dragon
- DGStation Boxes (Relook, Mutant, CubeCafe) and
- ST40 Boxes (Kathrein UFS 910/IPBOX 9000HD)
- WRT54G Linux routers and compatibles (BCM947XX)

here are some possible setups:

1. CaptiveWorks receiver connected to a PC's serial port (running windows or linux) using a null-modem cable, the pc connecting wired or wirelessly to your local network and then to a local or remote server.

2. CaptiveWorks receiver connected to a Dreambox's (or any other supported linux box, read the readme file) serial port using a null-modem cable, the dreambox connecting to your local wired network and then to a local or remote server. The server can be running on the Dreambox itself with a card in its slot.

3. CaptiveWorks receiver connected to a modded WRT54G router with null-modem cable, and the WRT54G in turn connecting wirelessly to your local network.

Thumbs up WOW- Sounds great.

I have a CaptiveWorks 4000 HD. Most of your post is over my head, but I'm happy to look into it.

Can you start with the lowest cost solution and what additional hardware / NON-software one would need to do this? Like a list?

Then I can probably figure out the software after I make the physical hook ups.

My CW 4000HD is etherneted by ethernet cord to my 5 port router then from router 1 ethernet cable into my broadband modem.

Thanks for anything. I'm not a techno NooB just not familiar with card sharing

Yes it's true CW receivers are working using card sharing and private server. That's the bad news private servers cost money and only way to use them is to pay $ 25 to admin that runs it. So it's not really a fix that is available to public. And here it's info on how it works.

1st TURN AUTOROLL OFF

2nd CONNECT NULL CABLE FROM PC TO YOUR CAPTIVE WORKS

3rd RUN THE rq-sssp-client.exe

4th you have to have the
rq-sssp-client.conf

with the proper server INFO.. b.c you are connecting to a card server.

also you need to have the patch enabled like you always did before

5th Press F1 5555 and you will see Cardshare ECM enabled

6th if you have the config file with the proper info from a card server admin..

Cool kewl- FTA Pro, good to know...

Getting clearer on how it works... thanks for that. YOu've always been a GOD of all things FTA...

So is the null modem cable a PERMANENT connection between the CW & the PC? Do you need to have the PC running along side the CW all the time to have the card sharing? Or is it only for set up?

$25 to an admin isn't bad. I guess the secret is... being asked to join the "speakeasy" eh?
is there a password? can I guess? is it "RUM" -ah you gotta love this pie-rat stuff.

Well if I were asked... I'd sign up and if anyone were of a right mind to PM me I'd be ever so grateful. I'm just testing and I would consider the contribution for educational purposes. I'm a loyal 'club' member. I know it's not affiliated with anyone, or anything...

@fledermaus yes you would have to be connected to your PC via Null Cable at all times in order to access private card sharing server. When u sign up you receive config file from PCS Admin load it and watch tv. I can help you with all that but it has nothing to do with me or our site. It's independent group of guys that use private card sharing servers, it seems to be working pretty good so far. If you need more info send me a PM but as i said it has nothing to do with us, all i can do is send you in the right direction. After that we have no control over it. As mentioned before it costs $ 25 a month so when you think about it instead of paying for card share why not just buy IKS receiver that has public servers and doesn't charge a fee every month. Think about it and let me know.

Thumbs up Kewl- again thanks FTA Pro

I'm so new to all the sat stuff that I thought I'd post here. (great time to buy a Sat system eh?) Having a windows system up next to the CW I think the powerbill would be about the price of basic cable... Not to mention the heat in the media room -here in SE FL...

Card share sounds interesting but I thought it was $25 a year or something... $25 a month is more than I'd like to pay (for now) -really until I get it running like I want to. (still don't have all the birds lined up right.)

I really had no idea there is a IKS receiver option with public servers. -Forgive me- I'm a genius at my day job but not with this...

Is their a HighDef IKS receiver? Would this be only to 'pass keys' to the CaptiveWorks? Or would the IKS receiver be the new sat box and my Captive works (for the moment) a very expensive -everything but- sat system?

I know I can't be the only one who is new to IKS or card sharing and has these types of questions. So I post my questions here, but feel free to PM me, if it's better, or too off topic.

As always thank the SAT GODS you are on here and so great with your info- cheers my friend-
