This "How To" is for manually updating channels/TP's for Coolsat's but the basics of it are for most receivers. Another way to update channels/TP's is to use SharpC's excellent ChannelMaster program but for the purposes of this "How To" guide, these directions will be for updating channels/TP's using your STB remote and it's functions.
To find information for all channels and figure out what their current TP is, go to: lyngsat.com/packages/dish110.html lyngsat.com/packages/dish119.html It has the latest and most up-to-date TP info for all the channels and is in DNet channel order. Write down the satellite and TP info from there ( either from the news section or the actual channel list posted there ) UPDATING Channels/TP's Using Remote On your remote, Press Menu > Installation > Press OK or use Right Volume Button ( If Enter Pin menu pops up, press 0000 ) > Dish Setting > scroll down to Manual Scan or PID Scan (I use Manual Scan but it doesn't matter) > Press OK Where it says Satellite, use right/left volume buttons to locate the particular Satellite/TP you want to change from the info you got from DBSTalk Now go scroll down to Frequency and change the [#] to the TP [#] from the information you got from DBSTalk, by using the right/left volume button on your remote EXAMPLE: Cartoon Network is on TP 16 on the 119 Satellite according to DBSTalk It would look like this in your Manual Scan menu screen: Satellite 119.0E Echo 7 @119 Frequency [16]12.443 GHz(H) ( Satellite and Frequency/[TP#] are all that you need ) Choose the correct Satellite, scroll down to Frequency and use the right/left volume button to change the [#] to the updated TP [#] from the steps used above. Press OK and it will start scanning that particular TP/Frequency automatically When it's done, Press Exit and keep pressing Exit until you are out of all the setup menus and back to watching T.V. The channel(s)/TP will now be updated/viewable and located at the end of your channel list on your receiver. Renaming and Editing Channels Using Remote ( the following set of instructions are for Coolsat users ) You can now rename, the channel(s) that got added to the end of your list if you're not happy with them. You can do this by: Press Menu > scroll down to Channels > Right Volume button ( If Enter Pin menu pops up, press 0000 ) > scroll down to Edit Channels > Press OK Now your channel listings comes up, scroll down or up until the channel you want to rename is highlighted Press OK The Edit Channels box now appears and you can now Edit the Name of the channel however you choose by using the right Volume button to move the black box over the letter/number you wish to change. Press OK and you will now see a menu with all sorts of letters, numbers and characters. Use your up/down - right/left arrow buttons to highlight the letter, number or character of your choice and Press OK. It will then automatically move to the next spot for editing. When you're done, Press Exit, it will still show you the Edit Channels menu, Press Exit again and another window will ask: Settings were changed. Do you want to Save? assuming you have edited the channel name how you want it to look in your channel list, Highlight YES and Press OK You can continue editing channels if you choose to or you can keep pressing Exit until you are out of all the menus and watching T.V. again. Moving Channels Around Using Remote After you have scanned your TP and or renamed your channel(s) and they are at the end of your channel list, you can now manually move your channel(s) from the back of your list to wherever you want put it in your channel listing. For instance, if you're using a list with DNet number listings, you can move your channels to the correct position ( or wherever ) by following these steps: Press Menu > scroll down to Channels > Press right volume button ( If Enter Pin menu pops up, press 0000 ) > scroll down to Move Channels > Press OK It will now bring up your channel listing. Scroll down to whatever channel it is that you want to move and make sure that it is highlighted in yellow. Press OK. The channel name will now turn light blue with up/down arrows to the right. Using the up/down arrows on your remote, scroll the channel to wherever you want it to be in your list. Press OK. The channel is now where you put it. If you need to move it, press the OK button again and the channel will turn blue again and you can move it again. You can continue moving other channels around by following those same steps of highlighing and moving. Once you're done, Press Exit. A window will pop up asking: Settings were changed. Do you want to Save? Highlight YES and Press OK. Continue pressing Exit until you are out of all the menus and watching T.V. again |
