Hi all

I have a viewsat xtreme receiver that has not worked properly since I got it. When you buy things online it's difficult to return it. Something as sensitive as a fta receiver, I don't trust people out side of the family. (smile)I would like to know, is there a repair system in place that I could send it out for a check up. Frist it would lock every few minutes. Now it is dead, it won't turn on. I looked for a blown fuse. No, not it. So I decided to check with you all. Thank

In the past we have seen problems similar to what you have I was able to rocket the power switch off and on and install files then the stb was working good. The computer was loaded with the loaded then installed the fix once turned on very fast load files to the stb. Also I noticed some stb boxes get to hot I put a computer fan on the stb and never had the problem anymore. Do you have a meter to test for power?

If you had problem with the receiver since you bought it why not return it and get a new one? I assume you still have a warranty on your receiver, if i was you i would contact the dealer you bought it from or Viewsat directly but make sure to delete all third parties software before you send it back. Do a factory default and load the factory file if you can.

Thanks all, I bought it on ebay. I was going to send it back, but, I thought I was doing something wrong. I loaded the bin files and still the receiver would lock up on its own. I would change channels and the receiver would lock. I want to say that again, the receiver would lock not the channels. but. I still went to the option setting, I went threw all the channel to check if they were set to lock. They were not. I bought a better multiswitch. I thought the receiver was not getting enough of the signal. I got frustrated, I put it away. Now I wanted to try it again,the receiver won't start up at all. The recever appears to be dead. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks

rictoy you can try and load factory file on it with null cable that came with receiver and see if that will bring it back up and running, if so, follow that with latest fix and let us know I will look and see what else I can find for you as well.

@ rictoy first of all we have to find out if your receiver is original or clone. Since you bought it on ebay there is a good chance that you got a clone and if you used original VS fixes they have clone killer codes in them. And if your receiver isn't a clone you can use this file to clean your receiver form previously loaded software. http://www.ftaprofessionals.tv/showthread.php?t=1401

After you load this file do a factory default and load the latest fix for VS extreme, set up your setting and hopefully you'll be able to watch tv. Good luck and let us know if this worked for you.
