As long your DN receiver isn't plugged into the phone jack they won't be able to trace you.

Especially if you are subscribing there is no way you will ever get busted. I am sure you seen those DN vans with big dishes on them. Sometimes they drive around and look for ppl stealing signal and if they ever came to your neighbourhood and see you are pointed at DN birds they punch your home address in and it shows them that you have a sub with them. So you are 110 % safe.

How can they notice if it was a banded or not just seeing a dish setup don’t mean it is in use?

They have a little tool that shows them when a dish is pointed at DN birds.Basically they drive around and the tool shows them all the dishes that are aimed at DN birds and if you are a subscriber you are fine and if you don't have a sub then not so good. But there is a way around if you were ever a DN subscriber you can tell them that you used to be a subscriber and cancel your sub and switched to cable, but if you never subscribed to DN and they find dish pointed at their birds...... not a good thing.

Talking ?????????

When we bought our Viewsat receiver, the guy that sold it to us said he went to court with DN and the Judge ruled these units were legal if they were not actual DN equipment being altered. As long as it's our (bought) equipment and we were able to get TV from our air space above our own homes... we are fine. Just what are the facts about these receivers? And is this not the same concept with the government issued receiver boxes for digital conversion? I read some of the posts about the law suits on the receivers and most are contradicting. Does anyone know of a website to read up on all this legal stuff? I've learned a lot from this website... I do appreciate it! Jus wanna know the scoop!

Default My 2 cents :)

JusBNme you just about have to do a google search and find info that way, I heard the same about the air space above your home being legal too, as long as none of the equiment belowed to sub providers too. There are so many stories out there floating around that it is better to just be safe as you can, boss is right in where he said if you sub and just pay for a small package that you are less likely to be caught as to not paying for service and having dishes up and raising the eyebrow as to what you are watching, see that is what the big deal is right now, they are saying that it is still not legal to watch bev/dn or even dave if you are not paying for it, that we are taking signals /programming out of the sky that does not belong to use, no matter what equipment we use. That those signals/programming belongs to them and that we have no rights to it.

Life is too short to wake up with regrets. So love the people who treat you right.Love the ones who do not, just because you can.Believe everything happens for a reason. If you get a second chance, grab it with both hands. If it changes your life, let it.Kiss slowly.Forgive quickly.God never said life would be easy.He just promised it would be worth it.

You do not have to be crazy to be my friend, but it sure helps.................

VS and all other fta receivers are legal if they they are used for the purpose they were made for, to watch true fta sat's. Since DN sat's aren't true fta sat's it's pretty obvious that fta receivers are used for signal piracy.
