Question Request Help To Find True FTA Birds

Hello...I've been a member for some time now, using CoolSat 7000 w/110W & 119W Echostar 7, but got frustrated since No fix files for long time, so I took your suggestion and we are setting up for True FTA. I purchased 39" fta motorized dish/antenna set up (w/Moteck SG-2100 HH motor (they came as a package) and am having trouble getting any signal quality AT ALL, when trying to pick up True FTA Sat. 123W or 97W when using the linear input on LNB (my LNB has input for C or L, but not both, so I imagine I need a splitter to combine them?-not sure...), but when hooked up to the C/Circular side of LNB, I had good Signal Level & Quality and was then able to search and find 110W & 119W and load both satelites and channels there (but "Scambled" right now of course!). But then when hooking up to the Linear Side of LNB, to try to get true fta birds, my Level of signal is pretty good, about 71-73%, but No Quality bars At All. When on Circular LNB, the level of strength was only about 64% or so when I started getting some signal Quality. So any suggestions on how I may get quality signal to find the true fta satelites 123W or 97W (or other Sat. suggestions)? Also, does cloudy weather effect this? Also, does changing the sat.frequency cause problem, such as picking up another closeby sat. (not the sat.you're shooting for..)? I am in suburbs of KCMO area-Long. -94.32; Lat. 39.3. Sorry for so many ?, but my husband & I are trying to do this ourselves and are working our way through, slowly but surely; but lost at times such as these! We learned much from your Forum and appreciate your expertice; it inspired us to do this.. Any help or guidedance will be very much appreciated by this True FTA Rookie! Thanks...twobears

i dont know to much but are you running two lnb's and the true fta is liner lnb if so there is usually a mark on lnb neck with degrees any bird past 180 deg must be turned looking at front of dish turn lnb slightly to the left see if this will help your quality do you have a meter this will also help. i've have a stationary sat this site will help lyngsat.com/galaxy18.html this should give you all sat spec and lnb to hope this will help also sat finder * Satellite Finder Online

Hi twobears,

Bad weather is a problem most of the time as many free to air signals are week but you should be able to pick up some channels.

I have found some good links that may help you out:

Thx so much to both of you for the help and suggestions...I'll try them and also read up on these links while waiting on clearer weather to try to "fine tune" by hand again. Also, can u tell me what switch I need between the LNB & motor to be able to use Circular and Linear both without having to manually switch them on LNB ("Y")? I'll keep u posted on status...thx again...! twobears

The sw21 or a DiSEqC switch should work fine.

Life is too short to wake up with regrets. So love the people who treat you right.Love the ones who do not, just because you can.Believe everything happens for a reason. If you get a second chance, grab it with both hands. If it changes your life, let it.Kiss slowly.Forgive quickly.God never said life would be easy.He just promised it would be worth it.

You do not have to be crazy to be my friend, but it sure helps.................
