To N3 or Not to N3 ? That is the question
Hey Guys,
Whilst here pondering over the Rumor Sections and the Receiver Sections I just felt compelled to write a little something. I don't want people to take this the wrong way and this is geared actually towards people who are new to the Fta game
and what it brings....

The Game itself,
Well as we do all know with the n3 shutdown Aka "Black Thursday" or affectionatley known as Mother$&*((er. We all have had the black screen syndrome. Of course while while we are waiting for our beloved standalone fix We have endured countless waves of
The fix is Coming Soon!!!! Oh Get your N3 Fix here Oh my look out We have the N3 Fix Apply today for membership Yadda yadda yadda bada bing bada boom... Of course none of these things were true... We have sat here with baited breath waiting for Bins from an angel all we got is bull from salesmen.... Well the last one which was closed was this website says the fix is coming the 22 nd. Now as alot of people know I am kinda Long winded on my posts... I know sometimes i say to much and things can get carried away abit. But I do feel for the end user of these things... We do take a gamble when we get these boxes and we are banking on something that is not etched in stone... This is the nature of this beast. We are also told, be careful of what you buy Read Read Read before you do anything. This is spot on. Take it to heart, information that I tell everyone...
I am not an fta salesman a spokesman for any fta receiver mfg group or whatever I am merely a consumer who purchased a few products, one of them i am NOT to happy with but the other two are good... However I do not like having a ring through my nose either and having a receiver that is hooked up to big mama server. Hey its okay and I will deal with it... The point I am trying to get across especially to people who are new to this and buy on impulse Please please for the Love of God Read before you Buy....

A few Questions to ask yourself while in the market for a Receiver,

1. Are you buying this for true Fta or for Free Tv?

If you choose the latter be prepared for downtime.... Yes Even the greatest units have downtime... You will have downtime it will happen No matter what Bank on it it is
a Given Again I will Restate this, BE PREPARED for downtime.

2. The Box you are looking for. Do you just want Iks or do you want to run both ways
as in Standalone and Iks?

If you choose the latter then you are looking at something that can have a dual purpose It will run Iks and it will run on Standalone The one Glitch is this -> "Will There be a standalone Fix?" if not what good is it????

Well I sure hope there will be I really would love to see a standalone fix as would alot of people... Always leave yourself Wiggle Room... Make sure you calculate your choice in an fta receiver that YOU the one who is spending his/her hard earned dollar on will be happy with in the long run.... Do not get fooled into thinking Nothing can stop this receiver, If you believe that I have beautiful ocean front Property in South Dakota you can buy..... I would love to see an N3 Fix I am Hopeful yes But as of late with all the crap Well I just don't know and the ones who do know are not talking....

3. Do you have Patience???? Yes I asked you that... Now you need to ask yourself.
Many times I see alot of people go out buying these things and then within 10 mins of their new receivers arrival guess what they are in the threads Cursing Bitching screaming and then calling the damn thing NO GOOD freaking out etc... If you do not have patience then for Pete's sake and All of Our Sakes DON'T BUY THE STUPID THING..

4. Are you handy? Good With Tools?

If the answer is yes this is a good thing this will help you in your quest for Fta or Free TV Yes there is a difference... People That cannot work with wrench's and screwdrivers and are scared of heights need not apply... If you cannot Climb up on a roof or put a post in the ground correctly and cannot work with wiring and Switches Do NOT Buy one of these unless you know someone who is versed in this... You do need some mechanical know how to get these things working... There is labor involved remember someone has to point the dish run the cable run the necessary switches in order to make the thing work Oh and lets not forget the Networking Part for IKS not to mention having the proper lnb's and dish needed...

5. Are you the only one in the house watching this thing?!?!?

Ok this is Tricky Pay attention, There are such creatures that live in the home they
are known as our Wives and our kids not to mention "dare I say this" MOTHER IN LAW

Ah yes Fun for the whole family!!! A laugh a Minute!!!! Well yes this is all jolly jolly fun time. But ask yourself this if you are away and a problem occured Would the people in
the home know what to do to fix it?!?!?!?!?!? Well This poses some scary scenarios! Things that come to mind are Little Johnny Sticking a fork in the USB port.. Or a very
frustrated wife Calling you at work Cursing you out for your quest in being cheap and
stealing a signals and then we have the Mother in law Ahhh M.O.M. You know she has always thought you weren't good enough for her little girl and now you have Absolutley Proved it By Showing her you are a PIRATE a THIEF and On Top of that Yer CHEAP TOO!!!!!
Please To avoid this horrible outcome Please have a SUB standing by... I do not MEAN a Damn Boomer or freaking Submarine Sandwich EITHER I am talking about a freaking Subscription... So when it does go black you can just tell her to switch the tv to source 2 for her viewing pleasure... This will keep the peace in the house and your Honey happy and the Mother in Law at bay..... Oh not to mention stopping little Johnny from frying himself with the fork...

6. Do you realize this thing does have a Life Expectancy??????

If you answer is no, Well guess what Again I have a few oil wells I can sell ya
for 50 grand anyone interested?!?!?!

The reason I say this is EVERYTHING I MEAN EVERYTHING does have a Life
expectancy.. You must realize in order to be in business you must sell units
when you have maxed your sales and everyone has one you must come out
with a new model and sometimes this means DROPPING a model.... Yes, No
support. gone with the wind bye bye Gone... They have to sell units to stay
in business do not have expectations... Don't ever assume You will be
disappointed. For the 200 or 300 or even 500 dollars you spend on these things
there will come a time when they will not work anymore... be it due to a Business
Decision or New technology if it makes it past 5 years Then that is Great you
got your moneys worth... Be Happy and when it does die Just remember all those
months you got use out of it and how much IT DID SAVE YOU... So don't gripe
bitch or complain....

In the Fta world there is one thing you can bank on and that is CHANGE I am not
telling you what kind of change it could be good or it could be bad but bank on it.
Be Prepared Make sure you choose wisely Watch what you buy don't go off and buy
something because of he said or she said.... Buy the unit that suits your needs.
Most important is READ then once you are done reading, well READ Some More!!!!!
Then if you have questions ask them in a nice and pleasant way. Make sure to be
Polite..

This is just food for thought if people want to get into this game we call FTA... It also
passes the time while we wait for a n3 fix. I just thought I should post this being there
are scams bull and the My Receiver is Better then your Receiver... No The true best receiver is the one that you actually pay for month by month and doesn't need a fix..
But if you like to roll the dice and you do understand the game and also you can take
it on the chin if your receiver dies Then by all means Play Ball! If you are faint of heart
worried about the Sat cops, worried about that knock on the door Dealing with a scary
mother in law I do not Recommend this.... What i can tell you is it is a pretty awesome
ride when everything works... This goes without saying... I love the Game... What i don't
like is Bullcrap and people who are new to this getting roped into it... I know this went on and on but i thought there might be some validity to this.. If i wasted bandwidth i am sorry... Just thought I would post my views on what is at hand right now and hopefully will be able to point someone who has questions in the right direction...

I just call it fun and be good with it, plenty of other things to do while waiting, tv really is not all that important, kinda like reading a book it sucks you in than when it is done you just get another one.

anyone still on this site had a working reciever, new or not, we figured it out. We all have PC's, and, I'd bet, can afford a subscription. We all, still in the game 4+ months into this game grab onto morsels of info and have fun with it. I'd reccomend to new folks to wait until the shit gets cleaned off the fan until I'd purchase anything! I rushed home from work tonight to check on updates from a moderator's post that "enthusiatically proclamed N3 was hacked" and within a weeks time we could expect to be up. Was it sophmoric of me to gain hope from that, or impatients? I'm not getting frisky with you, just having fun, and adding to the blogosphere, since ther is nothing to watch on the networks!

you hit the nail square on the head! im a hobbiest, kinda like the old CB's with a LINIER AMPLIFIER ATTACHED it had risks. also fines, ass whipping if you get caught keying up on the wrong person. but the truth should be easier to swollow. or deal with

well said putski,i have always had a backup.it is like you say,it is a hobby.just like building models ,gardening,painting.etc.what i have invested in the receiver i purchased over 2 years ago,i have gotten back and then some,if it is a doorstop now,then let it be!!!i still enjoy visiting this site,even though i do not contribute very much(i am a dumb old redneck...lol).i do have mechanical skills.i know which end of screwdriver fit into the screw..lol. if it ain't broke don't f... with it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
