Ok,
I use to be an active FTA user, and a few years ago I stopped when I moved and was unable to have a dish. I have now moved again, and I am looking to start using FTA again. The house I moved to already has a Dish installed, so I was thinking, great! This will be easy! Just need to get a receiver and apply the bin file. Well, it looks like a lot has changed in the past few years. I purchased a SonicView 360 premier and loaded the bin, followed the directions with the latest bin release, and NOTHING! I have read up as much as I could, but most of the stuff had dates that were not recent, so could someone update me with the current facts? I read that I am no longer able to view tv with a stand alone receiver, and now I need an internet connection. Is this still true? If so, what do I need to purchase as my SonicView 360 premier does not have a NIC port built in. What benefit does this new method of connecting with an internet feed provide? Is there a greater risk of being "caught" now or are these servers we are connecting to on some foreign soil that cant be shut down easily and records cannot be easily obtained? I appreciate the help... Can't believe I went from being a confident user to not knowing what is going on is such a short amount of time! |

Ok thanks, I will get one of those...
A couple of more questions: 1.) Do I need one of these for each FTA receiver, or if I want to add additional ones in the future can it somehow tie into the same hub? Do all receivers require one of these, or are there some brands that have the technology built in? If some are built in, would they still need some sort of subscription? 2.) With this hub, am I actually downloading the content from the internet, or is it still receiving the signal from the dish? If it is downloading it, how fast of an internet connection do I need? 3.) What happens after 2 years? Do I buy another subscription to this service or do I need to get a new one? 4.) Once I purchase this and load the bin as I always have in the past, am I getting the entire DN lineup as I have in the past? Thanks! |

no not all receivers require a hub/dongle You do need one for every sv you have
There are receivers out there that dont require one ,nanosat is one, there are others If you subscribe to the service for two years and they are still around in two years you just subscribe again You still need a dish aimed at your sats ,the internet is needed to get control words from the server. High speed is not needed as it works fine on dial-up No you are not getting the same channels as before You receive what the server provides |

Ok, I received my wizhub in the mail today. I hooked it up to the serial port on the receiver and plugged it into my router. Now what?
I hate to ask questions that I am sure have already been answered, but I can't seem to find the right instructions. I am looking in the instructions link under Sonicview 360 Premier. All I see is the I-hub directions from 2009 and NewLink from 2010, but nothing about wizhub, and the other 2 don't seem to apply. I tried setting it up operating under the assumption its plug and play and I dont need to do anything else with it, but that didn't seem to be the case. Thanks in advance for your help/responses! |

appreciate the quick reply, I am closer, I can almost taste it!
Went in there and entered the "warranty code" and it said it was connected to DNS, had a gateway/etc. so I am confident network portion is correct. Now when I went on to scan the sattelites using the other documentation that I have, it still found nothing (and went way too fast it seems, unless that is normal these days). I can see 2 potential problems... 1.) Am I supposed to use the Akai Japan Public Server in the network settings? It seems likely, as the private servers have a A-F limitation for the code, and my code has letters outside of that range. 2.) when I am scanning, the satelites shows very good signal, but no quality, I believe this is for the TP's. Do I have a dish angle problem, or am I just overlooking something here? |

Yes you do use the AKAI Japan server. You should have good quality and signal. You need to go the the 12414 TP to check the Q&S for the 110 and the 119 sats. If you don't have good quality and signal then you need to adjust your dish. With the SV receivers you will get most PPV channels, some Porn and most other channels, you will not get any local channels.

Ok sounds like that is my problem then, tried that TP and still showing 99 strength and 0 quality. Crap. Is it normal to see that vast of a difference?
I am not that knowlegable about how they should be aimed, guess I just figured since it was already here and setup when I moved in, it was likely setup by DN and done right. Thanks for all the help! I will try to research and learn more about aiming it, and if all else fails, I will order the cheapest sub they offer and let them come out here and do it for me
