Default How to Channel Editor v16c and v17c

Channel Editor v16c and v17c

The v16c and v17c work identically. As far as I've experienced ayway. There are no release notes that I have found to show any difference.

The nFusions that have been converting to the G3X boot versions can use these Editors.
It's the same Editor that is referred to in the directions for converting to G3x from R3x

It's functions...
-Transfer a-digital data bins to and from the nFusion, (channel/sat bins)
-Edit most Sat/Channel data info.

Lets start at the top.
At the top you will see 4 tabs
1. File tab.
2. Edit tab.
3. Transmit tab.
4. Add tab.

----File tab
In here there is an Open option. You should have a data bin (a-digital) on your PC somewhere in order to open. You can then open that bin and do some editing or just view it's contents.
This is also where the Save and the Save As options are . You must always save any changes made with one of these options (even if it looked like something has been saved during your editing , always use this option before exiting your work).
Save will just save it as it's already labeled as.
Save As will save it as what ever title you choose. Be sure to leave the .bin extension in tact thou.

----Transmit tab
There are 3 options here.
-Set the Com port from 1 to 5.
-The Buad Rate should be set at 115200, but that could defer depending on what the settings is on your PC concerning that certain Com port.
Most uploaders run best at 115200 bps (bits per second) and the PC's Com speed/rate should be set to match the uploader's, but not truly critical. You can set that baud rate on the PC's Com port thru your PC's Device Manager.
-After the correct Com has been chosen click on the OK icon and then go to the Receive data option. Click on that Receive option. The nF's LED display should read "Send" and at the bottom of the Editor window, you will see a progress bar.
Once it's been received you will see a pop-up window on the Editor saying Please Open File. Exit that pop-up window.
The file that was just received will be in the same folder that your Editor is in. For instance, if you opened the Editor from a named folder on your desktop then that received bin will be in that same named folder. If the Editor was opened directly from the desktop then the received bin will be on your desktop and etc....
It will be labeled --> adigital.bin
You should cahnge it's name to something you would like, but always leave the .bin extension in-tact as is.
Example --> my_data_97w.bin OR my_data_97w_adigital.bin

Okay lets open that saved bin you just saved (or any adigital bin).
Once opened, you should notice the Sat list at the left with a scroll bar there. To the left of that would be the channels and their info.

The channels scanned are listed and the USER designation should show. Directly to the top of that is an All Channels option.
Okay, go to the Sat list and scroll down till you see the USER sats. Click one of the USER sats that is designated with those channels. That sat will now show and it's channels only will show in the list.
Now click on that All Channel option and all the scanned sats's channels will show again. This is important to know because you can only organize and save the channel order when in All Channel mode.
Lets say the channels are out of order. Click on a channel to highlight it and drag and drop it in the position you want. If there are a group of channels to move then highlight the first one and scroll down to the last one and while holding the shift key click on that last channel. The group of channels should now all be highlighted. Drag and drop them.
If you ever scan in certain sats (like 91w) then the channel order is all messed up, and some organizing might be wanted.
You can hit the SID tab and the channels will get themselves in order by SID but they won't save that way.

In the Sat area, double click on a selected USER sat. A pop-up window will appear that has the setting info listed. You can change anything or just view what's listed in this window.
The LNB type.
The Frequencies.
The DiSEqC setting.
The 0v/12v switch.
The 22 Hz setting.

Now, go over to the channels again. Double click on a channel.
The channel PIDs are seen here and some other channel settings. Unfortunately all you can adjust here is the channel name and the parental lock, everything else is not available for adjusting.

Okay, now lets say you want to add a new sat. Simply choose a USER sat that isn't being used and highlight it and then up top is where you use the ADD tab
Add a transponder.
A pop-up window will appear and some settings will need to be added.
Choose the sat # first. This is not the USER sat number thou... For instance USER 7 shows as sat number 168 in the sat menu.
Then set the Freq, Polarity & S/R and then OK.
You should now see that newly added TP info in the TP list which is under the Sat menu area. Then carry on with the next TP and so forth. You can also double click on any TP that is listed in the TP menu area and edit it at any time.
When making a new User sat list this is how you can also set the default TP. For instance, the 119w default TP is a Spot Beam and will show no signal for most. So instead of positioning that Spot Beam TP as number 1, simply use a Conus Beam TP as number 1
Same sorta thing with the channel order. If you want a "free channel" such as the 101 channel on the 119w or the 198 channel on 91w as channel number 1 on your nF's LED display, then simply drag and drop it there.

There are some other options to explore , such as the tabs at the bottom of that Editor and the Favorites area as well. not all options work, a few don't.

And remember, SAVE your work in the File tab

Sending data to the nF is straight forward. Choose port again and choose send. The receiver will need a reboot with the remote control before the info sends to nF
