Default How to Sonicview 1000 PVR

Tools you'll need
*USB A-B cable
*Appropriate USB loader: USB 1.1 ports use USB Loader OR USB 2.2 ports use TFTPServ
*Latest working SVPVR1000 bin
*Dish pointed in right direction with optimal signal and quality.

Installing the Hard Drive
You can only install IDE drives, 7200RPM recommended, up to 2Tbytes size. There were no prepackaged directions on how to install one so here it is.
HDD Installation
It is very important to set your hard drive to Master, otherwise you will run into problems with receiver recognizing drive. Go to Main Menu>PVR>Format to format hard drive.

Flashing the Receiver
1. With box connected to TV, plugged in but back power switch off, connect USB cable to box and PC.
2. Turn on box and wait for Windows to find New Device. Windows will ask to find device driver, choose manual locate and point Windows to the folder with Loader app; inside the folder is the USB driver. Press OK on folder and wait for Windows to load driver. If Windows tells you driver failed compatibility test, ignore and hit continue.
3. Turn box off and open up the Loader. Browse and Open the SV PVR bin.
4. Turn box on with back switch and Loader's status bar will show loading process. It takes less than minute to load bin.
5. The receiver front display will show WRITING. When it is done writing the bin, turn off box and disconnect USB cable.
6. Turn on box and go into Menu>Installation>Dish Settings to setup sats.

Setting Up Satellites
This is a dual tuner box and I will detail how to setup the popular sats 110 (EchoStar 6,8)+119 (EchoStar 7) on both tuners so you can record and watch off either sat at same time. This setup can be done easily with Legacy Twin/Quad LnB, DP Twin/Quad LnB, DP Plus LnB: just run 2 LnB cables to each Tuner in back of box.

For all DP LnB your settings are:
Tuner ID Tuner A
Satellite EchoStar 7
Connection Separate
LNB Type OCS-DP
LNB Frequency 11250
22KHz Off
LNB Power On
Transponder 12239
Search option All
Network search On
DiSeqC Port 1
Motor Disable
Legacy Switch Off

You should see nice Signal + Quality in box to right. Do Blind Scan with Fast option and Save channels.

Transponder 12224

DiSeqC Port 2
Motor Disable
Legacy Switch Off

You should see nice Signal + Quality in box to right. Do Blind Scan with Fast option and Save channels.

Now you want to do the same for Tuner B. Do not use Channel Copy feature, since I found that it won't allow dual tuner recording at same time since box thinks there's time conflict even though each tuner has own sat feed.

You should be good to go at this point. Setup your time and local channel numbers (2,3,4 etc) settings by giving the box your State/City; disable parental lock (on by default) if you don't want it (default code 0000).

For Legacy Twins/Quads your settings are:
Tuner ID Tuner A
Satellite EchoStar 7
Connection Separate
LNB Type Single
LNB Frequency 11250
22KHz Off
LNB Power On
Transponder 12239
Search option All
Network search On
DiSeqC Off
Motor Disable
Legacy Switch SW42 LNB1

Transponder 12224

Legacy Switch SW42 LNB2

To change the keys:

On remote press Menu, then 7890 and go to Code Menu:
Key Settings
CAS (Nagravision)
Dish (01 01 00)
00 (!!!change nothing here!!!)
01 (!!!change nothing here!!!)
10 (xx xx xx xx xx xx xx xx)
11 (xx xx xx xx xx xx xx xx)
20 (xx xx xx xx xx xx xx xx)
21 (xx xx xx xx xx xx xx xx)

Edit where xx are. Whenever you see keys posted/retrieved as (where xx are letters/numbers):

Key 0 (86): xx xx xx xx xx xx xx xx xx xx xx xx xx xx xx xx
Key 1 (96): xx xx xx xx xx xx xx xx xx xx xx xx xx xx xx xx

Just remember:
1st half key 00 goes into line 10, 2nd half into line 11
1st half key 01 goes into line 20, 2nd half into line 21

For Fast EPG
Go to channel 418 and sit on it for 4 minutes. Don't access any menus or touch remote at all. Just wait 4 minutes and you wil get full 7 days EPG on all channels.

How to Update By Flash Drive
The ability to use flash drive was enabled with pvr_8nov2006_pvr_USB_0102b_p and later. First add the bin to flash drive. With receiver on, plug in flash drive in rear. Go to Menu>Installation>USB Mass Storage and press OK.
Find bin in your flash drive and hit OK. Receiver will copy bin then write. When receiver front display says WRITE OK, turn the back switch off, then on. Receiver should power up normally, then unplug flash drive.

Loop Out?
If you don't have a twin or only one LNB output is available to receiver, you can loop out one Tuner's signal. Then choose Channel Copy in PVR menu. The only reason to do this is so you can watch and record different shows at same time. However if you're recording a program off 110 on Tuner A, you can only watch other programs of same polarity off 110 on Tuner B. 119 will not be available.
