Default Sonicview SV-HD8000 Signal Loss Fix

1-22-09

Like a lot of SV-HD8000 owners, I have been plagued with signal loss issues for the past several months. I have 2 of the original versions and have owned them since they were first introduced.
It all came to a head yesterday when I added 110 and 119 to my set-up. I am now hitting 4 birds connected through EMP Centauri DISEqC switches.

As soon as I connected to all 4 I experienced signal loss every time I alternated from one provider to the other.

My theory on the signal loss problem is that it is hardware related not software. It is the anemic power supply. It simply can't keep up with the demands of powering the 8psk module, the 2 fans to keep it cool and the LNBs.

I added a 5/12 volt external power supply to each receiver and I am powering the module and the 2 cooling fans with it. The on board power supply is only used to power the lnb's as it was originally intended.

My signal loss problems are gone.
