Question IHUB question

According to the IHUB connection, what happens if you accidentally switch your modem off. Do I have to go through all the setup again ? And will it work correctly with my yahoo dsl connection ? Thanks

No it will not hurt the ihub.Do a hard boot after ihub is connect and it will reset it.You will need a router with your DSL connection. If you do not have a router yet,buy a Linksy's router. They work the best.

Default Ihub

So you are saying that I do not have to have it connected with ethernet cable ? Does it only work with wireless connection. My friend has his modem on all the time.

I have not used the wireless connection. The hardwire setup would be the best for less freezing and receiver updates.

Direct connection is better and cheaper, if you want to go wireless you would need to buy Ethernet bridge as well. And yes you have to be connected to the Internet via router all the time. The only way to get it working with modem it's to run Internet cable from modem to receiver which means no PC or any other devices can be connected or you would have to plug and unplug Internet cable all the time. You definitely wanna have a router and as Ekim mentioned Linksy's routers are the best for fta, but other routers will work as well.

Question Ihub

What if I got a splitter for my modem and this way I could use two connections is this possible ? And which one of the linksys routers would you recommend ? My story goes like this. I have two modems one upstairs and one in the basement If I use one, the other has to be off and that causes the problem. What solution would you recommend ? Thanks again

Router basically works as a splitter, there is no other way to split signal other then using a router not to my knowledge anyways. Linksys WRT54GC is a good router but reports on Belkin routers are good as well. You don't need to spend a fortune on a router most of them will work fine.

Ekim was just saying he had issues with the Belkin it assigned wrong IP's and could not get it to work on the ihub.

I myself have a Linksys and had no problems at all geting Ihub to work.

Routers are like STB's with out fixes, all pretty much simular. Like STB's you need to set them up. So a new router, like a new STB, won't necessarly work out of the box.
If you have a router that doesn't work, try a reset (Usually a recessed button on the rear or bottom of router, hold in for 30 seconds).
