Default Newbie with New SV8000HD - 8psk - ihub?

Hi everybody

this forum has a great vibe, i hope my patience with my unit won't ruin my attitude!!! :-?

i went through the firmware upgrades (July 09 / Dec 09) for the receiver, and the ihub is on 1.9.

....just now got the receiver to recognize the ihub (after 2 weeks of playing/installing this thing).

when i get one thing to work, another gets worse. earlier i had a 99% signal strength/quality, (but all channels were "No signal / Scrambled", so i only got ads and infomercial channels....to this day i haven't seen one real TV channel.) Now, after the upgrades and reboots...the signal quality/strength is going back and forth from bad to nothing.

Is it possible that my receiver or equipment is defective? I'm brand new to FTA also, so excuse me if there is a glaring ignorance in my questions! Is there any way to get any use out of this thing, even without that ihub unit?

I've also been reading the other posts and see that SonicView has been down quite a bit. Now i'm wondering how to tell the difference between an unworkable set-up here, or is the problem only the server site, etc.?

Any and all input is wanted and welcome....thank you so much in advance! I AM really looking forward to the FTA experience, but i'm afraid i'm getting discouraged at this point.

:-) Bendysat

Hi Ekim, thanks so much for answering so quickly! The answer to that is yes. We went through step by step....(which is how we finally got the receiver to recognize the ihub).

We noticed several new things appearing on the menu....and for the first time had the ability to enter the serial # for the ihub (before there was no option for that)......so we did make progress, but the thing still won't get any tv?!

Any ideas?

hello bendysat : great you are learning this hobby . there are some functions that need to set. your satellite dish signal is very important .if you do not have it locked in on a strong signal and strength you will not get all your channels available. then now that you have the ipconfig options you can set your address.setting up wiznet and loading the files. let us know where you are at. good luck.
