Question ice storm problem???

we're hving ice storm in nw Mo. i've lost sound & a color pic..i hve close captioning & b/w.. is this typical of ice build-up?

A bad signal can do allot of things.But what you are saying sounds like some video settings were changed.

Question

can this happn on it's own? the pic froze & when i changed chnnls i lost color & sound. i've nvr done video settings is it complicated? thnx n advance

Is there way to clean your dish?Can you tell us how and what kind of cables you use to connect your receiver to your tv.

Be careful with your dish.The settings for video would be in A/V settings in system settings.You may also have these settings in your tv.Are you using RCA ,S-video or component video cables?

During bad weather it often happens that people loose signal due to snow buildup on their dishes and especially LNB's. Normally if that's the case you would see No Signal or Bad or Scrambled Channel message. I would clean the snow of your dish and LNB's if possible and as Ekim suggested try RCA cables and see if that works for you.

cables came w/ d*** 500 set-up. as 4 receivr a/v sttings = tv screen type 4:3 etc. = channel mode normal etc. i'm familiar w/ most snow problems as i was w/ d*** for 7 yrs. this is totally different. i seem 2 hve all same channels; just no color or sound.... thnx n advance al
