I'm interested in getting an HD receiver. I have two veiw sat platinum receivers now. My question is, if I get an Hd receiver will have to change the satilite setup? I live on the west coast, Thought I would ask before I take this on.

I assume you have a HD TV cuz without HD TV, HD receiver would be useless. Second you need to install a 8PSK Board in order to watch HD channels and to be honest there isn't that many many HD channels on DN right now to be worth your while buying a HD receiver. And of course once the Nag 3 switch is made we are not really sure what models are going to be up and which ones aren't.So if you want my honest opinion i would hold of buying any kind of Fta receiver especially HD Fta receiver right now. Wait and see what happens with Nagravision 3 first and go from there.
Here is a link where you can find a lot of useful information about HD receivers. http://www.ftaprofessionals.tv/showthread.php?t=481

I notice there are many receivers better than mine. I wanted a receiver that shows a better picture. All of my TVs are 1080. I didn't want to take on more than I can handle. I've only worked on the veiwsat receiver. (Platinum and xtreme) I was going to put up a HD dish, and was wondering, what's the difference between the receivers when I setup. I just want to upgrade. Thanks for your help.

Your old dish with 2 LNB's will work just fine. The higher S&Q % the better for HD channels. Sounds like you are all set if you have a 1080p HD TV all you need is a new HD Fta receiver and 8PSK Board. You will definitely notice a huge difference in picture quality on your TV when watching HD Channels. Like i said before there isn't that many HD Channels right now but 14 more should be coming soon. It will take a few more months before N3 switch so you can enjoy HD for a few months and after that if N3 gets cracked HD channels most likely won't work for a while but you can still use your HD receiver to watch SD channels. So it's all up to you.

NFusion is a very nice receiver if you are looking for a IKS (Internet Key Sharing) receiver. You can read some more about IKS here http://www.ftaprofessionals.tv/forumdisplay.php?f=414
Sonicview 8000 HD, Viewsat 9000 HD & Viewsat Max HD, Pansat 9000 HD & Pansat 9200 HD are HD receiver i would look into these few receivers mentioned above. They are all very similar so it's a personal choice which one you like the best. Couple things i would recommend is to buy from Authorised Dealer and maybe buy a different brand from what you have right now. I know you have VS receivers right now so it wouldn't be a bad idea to have a different brand receiver just in case VS coders are a little slow with the fix you have a back up receiver and don't relay on just one coder group.
