It sounds like it's not your new TV then if channels on cable look good. Fta receivers are digital as well so it kind of doesn't make sense why the picture wouldn't be as good as cable ( should be better actually ). See if you can borow a receiver from a friend or some one you know to try out a different receiver.

You can try to change the AV settings to 16:9

Yeah i think he meant the settings on your VS, you can try that. I doubt it will work but it's worth giving it a shot.

Thanks.
I have tried Viewsat Pro box and no improvement. When I have changed VS box to 16:9 picture was too big for the TV. Was cutting view on the sides and top and bottom. I had to change to letter box.
I gave up. Just hooked up RCA and S_Video cables until figure out solution or buy a HD receiver.

Thank you all for your help

I would try out the Component cables or even better component to HDMI will give you the best picture you can get with out a HD receiver.

The best is just buy it from a big store, try it out and if you don't think is worth the $ just return it.

Sorry to hear it didn't work out, i guess buying a HD receiver and using HDMI cable should fix the problem.
