Simplified WF Instructions
By Kilika -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This is my attempt to streamline and simplify the latest instructions and answer some of the questions that people have been asking. This is based on the WF Latest Instructions post by bosancero - thanks to him for giving me a starting place. NOTE: These instructions are based on my experiences and are intended to simplify existing instructions, not to contradict or supersede them. Throughout these instructions I presume that you already know the basics of flashing, and have already taken care of the basic setup steps (alignment, etc). I also attempt to keep my instructions generic rather than favoring one particular model of ViewSat. I used USB for all flashing operations. From what I've read, Serial/Loader works as well, but will require minor changes to these instructions (exactly when to plug/unplug the serial connections). Directions: Gather bin files appropriate to your particular model of ViewSat Latest WF factory BIN file Viewsat Ultra Factory WF File Sep.17.2010 Viewsat Ultra-Lite Factory WF File Sep.17.2010 Viewsat 9000HD WF Factory File Sep.17.2010 Viewsat MAXHD WF Factory File Sep.17.2010 Latest fix Bin files. Viewsat Ultra WF FTA Fix July 12.2011 Viewsat Ultra Lite WF FTA Fix July 12.2011 Viewsat 9000HD WF FTA Fix July 12.2011 Viewsat Max HD WF FTA Fix July 12.20011 Put your receivers wf factory file and bin file onto your flashdrive Plug your flashdrive into the receiver Reset to default settings (Menu > System Information > Factory Default > OK) Flash to latest wf factory BIN (Menu > System Information > Receiver Upgrade > USB > [wf factory BIN filename]) Wait for receiver to reboot. Plug the WF into the receiver via the provided serial pigtail (mine has blue ends). Plug the WF into your network. Plug the WF into the provided AC adapter. Flash to wf factory BIN. (Menu > System Information > Receiver Upgrade > USB > [wf factory filename) Wait for receiver to reboot. Flash to 110707 BIN for your receiver. Wait for receiver to reboot. Check IP settings. Set for DHCP (usually) or Static IP as appropriate for your network. (Menu > Installation > Serial Setup > Network Setup) Check WF firmware version. (Menu > Installation > Serial Setup > Network S/W Upgrade > Network S/W Version > OK) - Compare with "New Software" version If "New Software" version is different, Upgrade WF. (Menu > Installation > Serial Setup > Network S/W Upgrade > Start Upgrade > OK) Reboot receiver using power switch. Reenter your LNB settings, and rescan satellites as usual. If everything seems to be working but your channels still show as "scrambled" or "no video or audio", go back to step 14 and check your network settings. DHCP is normal for most people. Use 'ipconfig' on your computer to verify that the IP addresses shown below DHCP are similar. Also, I made the mistake of forgetting to reenter my DiSEqC ports in step 18, leading to odd scan results (duplicate or missing channels)
