Default Preventing and repairing (----)

Preventing and repairing (----) A very common problem lately with the ultras seem to be the transfer process freezing up and failing. The end result is (----) or a dead display.

One way I've found to try and prevent this from happening, and I'm not saying it's the reason, but everyone that has had this problem and followed these instructions haven't had any more issues...

1. Transfering downloaded file from your PC to the USB memory stick AND decrompress it (using winrar or winzip).
2. Power off the ultra from the switch in the back.
3. Insert USB memory stick into the USB port located at the front of the receiver.
4. make sure memory stick is properly inserted then power on the back switch.
5. Give the Ultra about 30 seconds or so to recognize the memory stick.
6. go into your MENU and transfer file as you normally would.
7. after the transfer is complete and rebooted..allow the receiver to operate for at least 30 seconds (either autorolling or showing a picture).
8. DO NOT CHANGE CHANNEL OR TOUCH THE REMOTE DURING THAT 30 SECONDS
9. power off the remote, remove memory stick and power back on.

Taking the extra time doing it this way seems to be working..could be a coincidence..but who knows..lol

To Repair the (----) display.

You'll need a PC with a serial port or a USB to serial adapter.

1. Download Loader 2 in the viewsat section.
2. Download latest factory file.
3. Download latest Bin file.
4. do a factory default 3 times, suggest rebooting by back switch in between ech factory default.
5. Load factory file through NUll cable using Loader 2.
6. progress bar should be moving on the pc and % displayed on the front of your ULTRA
7. Factory default 3 more times rebooting between each one.
8. A lot of ppl load through USB the latest bin at this point, but I recommend loading it through the null cable...this first time anyways.
9. After latest bin is loaded, 3 more factory defaults with hard reboots in between.
10. adjust your settings, rescan and enjoy.

This will not correct every problem, but will repair a lot of issues.

if you don't have a pc handy, you can always try cloning it from another ULTRA..it occasionally works, although you may have to load a factory file into the working ULTRA and remove all it's personalized settings, channels, etc by doing a factory default before starting...***

Default Viewsat Ultra ---- error after loading update via USB

Just take the new file like PFTAUSW_080814U and change the date. Take off the date and put it like this PFTAUSWR.PGM , then put it on your USB stick ,turn off your receiver from back switch, then put your USB stick in receiver turn switch back on,it will do the rest. It will put PFTAUSW_080814U.PGM on your receiver automatically. Let the receiver do the work it will come on.
